Joshua M. Boyce, 25, a local resident, was identified and arrested following an incident at a Leesburg bank, which was followed by a short-lived police pursuit, officials say.
Officers were called at around 11:45 a.m. on Sept. 27 to Truist Bank in the 1000 block of Edwards Ferry Road NW in Leesburg, where there was a reported robbery.
According to police, members of the Leesburg Police Department were called at 11:42 a.m. on Friday to the bank, as well as the 200 block of Fort Evans Road NE at the Leesburg Outlet Mall to conduct an investigation.
During a subsequent canvas and search of the area, officers spotted Boyce near the mall, at which point he fled on foot, only to be apprehended without further incident following a brief chase.
Boyce as taken into custody and charged with robbery and wearing of a mask in connection with a robbery.
He was taken to the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center pending a bond review.
The investigation is ongoing.
